Review on Wi-Fi signal amplifier (repeater) TP-LINK RE220, white by Adam Kotula ᠌

The worst purchase in my life, don't repeat my mistake

I took it as an ethernet wi fi amplifier, because the router is far away in the corridor. Before that, I used a cheap (700r) amplifier that is halfway between the router and the main consumers and just catches and boosts the wi fi network. It works well but I would like even better. Problems began almost immediately - right from the installation. The mobile application sees the network that the device creates, but the Tether application itself does not find the device. I connected the second way via the wps button - the device, as it should be, organized two grids with postfixes network name_EXT and network name_EXT5G. Mobile phones connect without problems and seem to work. This is where the good news ends. Literally the next day, it turned out that the device was driving the DHCP server on the router (ASUS RT N66U) crazy and every 20 seconds it changes IP for all clients, periodically with duplicates. Accordingly, all ethernet devices (TVs, working PC) simply stop working normally over the network because non-stop receive a new IP. I don’t know if the router is too old for this device, but it has the latest firmware of 2022 and there are no complaints about it at all - it has been plowing for 10 years without question. It seems that the device can be configured to a static IP, maybe it would help somehow, but this is done through an application that the device does not see. In general, I'm happy for those who have "plugged in and works" but in my case it's money down the drain.
