Review on πŸ“€ Panasonic DMP-BDT100 Blu-Ray DVD Player, Black – 3D/2D Capability by Tropingzz Cece

I bought it for a reason, it beats all other

I bought this particular BD player because my Samsung BD-P3600 could hardly play pre-recorded discs so I needed something , which can play back all types of recording discs, be it CD-R to BD-R/RW DL. Let me preface this review by stating that I've read reviews that this is a "crippled" version of the DMP-BDT300 and 350 because it doesn't have built-in memory, analog output, dual HDMI output, or built-in WI has -FI, and it has a "less beautiful" graphical interface. My answers to these "harmful" factors are: 1-If you don't use BD-LIVE (I don't) you won't miss the built-in storage, anyway I threw away the 4GB SD card I had (worth about $10). and it solved the memory shortage problem. 2-I don't use analog pre-outs. If your BD player is streaming an audio track THROUGH the HDMI folder, you won't miss it. 1.4 so it's not a problem for me, but I don't care about 3D BD anyway and if you don't then having a single HDMI output isn't a problem. Audio continues to bitstream smoothly to the receiver and is backwards compatible with HDMI 1.3.4. This is very important to many, including myself as I'm a heavy Netflix user due to their HD content, but luckily I ran the network cable to the attic, threw it behind my gear and flipped the switch. Apparently, if you need WIFI, you'll have to buy a proprietary WIFI adapter that occupies the only USB port on the front of the BD player (and forces you to keep the front tray open). Well, this creates other problems if you're happy with USB and plugging a lot of devices into the unit, but toggling between the WIFI adapter and the media will be minimal I suppose. Even if you frequently connect a USB flash drive to the player, switching between the wireless adapter and removable media is easy given the location of the USB port. Personally, I've never connected removable media to my BD player, so I wouldn't miss it even if the device didn't have a USB, so I doubt that's an issue. just great and easy to use. Sure, my Samsung is better because it's more animated than Panasonic, but Panasonic isn't stupid either. It strikes me as a pure business GUI that doesn't do anything wrong or exceptionally well. With all that, it does the most important job I use it for. It reads my BD-R DL media with no problem. It also works with Netflix, but I mostly use it in my bedroom with my already semi-retired BD-P 3600.

Pros
  • Blu-ray players and recorders
Cons
  • Expensive
