So far I am impressed with this Max Burton 6515. Its output is 1800 W. I measured 1755 watts with my Kill A Watt Meter. It's close enough for me. I have received NO COMPENSATION for my review and will be the first to let you know if I have found a fault in any product. Areas that could be improved: 1) More precise control on both power and temperature settings would be nice. 2) The knobs are a bit finicky. I left a message with customer service to ask about it. They called me back within 1 hour but did little to help. However, I am impressed that they called me back. 3) It would be nice if the power level (PL mode) was lower than 500W. Although the "Temperature" mode can be lower, 500W is not enough for some types of cooking. PL 1 is perfect for quesadillas. To get lower heating you need to switch to the temperature setting. What impressed me: 1) It's VERY strong. He brought two cups of sea level water to a boil in a non-stick cast iron skillet in 1 minute 15 seconds and a quick boil in 2 minutes 30 seconds. constant and reliable temperature. You will need to use the "Temperature" setting for this, but set it to 100ºF (no probe), it will melt the chocolate without burning. I let it work like that for two hours and the chocolate didn't burn. 3) The body feels very solid and the legs are height adjustable (screw type) for stability. 4) Chassis grounded. For safety reasons, ALL electrical equipment in wet areas must be grounded. Tips & Tricks: Please ALWAYS use a GFCI socket for electrical devices in a humid environment. The life you save could be your own! The plug is rated for a standard 120VAC, 15 amp outlet, but upon testing I noticed that some draw just over 15 amps. While it will work with a standard 15A outlet, I recommend using a dedicated 20A wire with at least 10 AWG Romex directly to the main panel. That's how I set it up and haven't had any issues with overheating or voltage drops. Please note that my hardware is NOT tracked by NIST and is prone to failure. I recommend waiting for my final review before purchasing.
