Using 2 devices as a wifi bridge, I send a 2.4 wifi signal 200 meters through a house wall and a tree and get a stable home speed connection Downloading at speeds of 45 Mbps, comparable to my home Wi-Fi setup, and 18 Mbps (my maximum download is 20 wired) with a bandwidth of 20 MHz. I'm happy with my requirements and it runs stably for several days with no disconnections and low latency. It has multiple surveillance cameras 24/7 and a separate hotspot works fine. I don't need a lot of bandwidth and while it's about the M5 I don't think it will be good at overcoming the obstacles I have in the signal path. Update: I have an AC 5 loco for higher speeds and it actually cuts over 200 meters through walls and trees with a stable -55dBm connection after choosing the perfect frequency with Airmagic. The new devices are certainly powerful, so they're likely to use them as hotspots, and the former don't support accessing hotspots that aren't ubiquitous devices.
