I didn't use it for a very long time before it started showing the symptoms others have mentioned, particularly the fact that I had to hit it with a hammer to get it to start the engine. Now it doesn't turn at all. I bought this item thinking I got a good discount on a decent product but I'm disappointed that after a short time I had to replace the starter (again). Access to a starter is not a trivial process, so I wish it took at least a few years. I contacted the seller to inquire about the warranty. Several people have mentioned that it has a lifetime guarantee. If so, then I think the process of replacing it will take a bit of effort.
