First the product came with no instructions. It is very difficult to tell how to thread the straps to ensure maximum security. It took my husband a while to install it safely. I wasn't watching him, so when it came time to take the kayak off me I spent as much time undoing/fastening the straps as I had spent in the water that day. i will return it
