Review on Crafters Choice Kraft Oval Window Crafting for Soap Making by Carrie Spencer

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Soapboxes aren't quite what I expected.

As a soap maker, I'm always looking for ways to package my product in a way that makes it easier for my customers to use. Boxes are one of the best ways to pack our soaps. Boxes allow fragrances to penetrate, a window allows customers to view whirlpool tubs, and generally they provide soap makers with consistency in presenting soap. That being said, I have to say that I've worked in packaging and created boxes like this. within a year or so. So my rating is based on the knowledge of the time. Pros: These are reverse fold boxes. This means they close easily with two tabs, one on each end, that tuck into the box. They are versatile in their fit. The size of the window corresponds to the size of the box. recycled material, which I think is a big plus) They are good value for money. Cons: They are one size fits all, so if your soap is a bit larger, it won't fit. They are not covered in a coating that prevents your soap (super greasy or not) from leaving an oily stain on each box after a short exposure time. You may be wondering what I mean by coverage. In the paper industry, there are several ways to make boxes. When a box is made from recycled material and there is no coating (usually a water coating) inside, it is impossible to prevent oils from penetrating the substrate (paper). As with unopened donut boxes, the oil from the frying of the donuts penetrates the paper after a short time. The oils in our soaps also soil the boxes, making them unsaleable to our customers. The best way to prevent this and extend the life of our soap packaging is to coat the inside of the box. Yes, it's a little harder to work with (needs to run on a press that can flood material), but overall it saves us packaging costs. That's why the box got 3 stars from me. Due to the lack of a cover, the box was able to hold my oils from the soap, forcing me to repackage the soap in biodegradable packaging. So if you're looking for a soap dish solution, pay extra pennies for the box and buy the ones that have a lining inside. .Much luck!
