Review on 🌊 Waterproof Hiking GPS: Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx—Discontinued by Manufacturer by Julie Uhl

This is the third Garmin GPSMAP 76 product that I have owned. I started a few years ago with a GPS Map 76 with 8MB RAM. I found having a GPS to be very handy but also a lot of fun. You'll never get lost, and with lots of details like places of interest, you can easily find things like a specific restaurant or hotel in a city you've never been to. As a recreational boater, this GPS navigator comes with preloaded navigational aids, making it easy to get from point to point on a large river. Also, it floats, so if you drop it overboard, that's no problem. However, 8MB of memory isn't much, so a few years later I upgraded to 76S so it could load more detailed maps. With 24MB of RAM, there is enough memory to store 120 miles of radius information. If I had to go to a new location, I would load that area instead. The 76S met my needs, but I still thought a little more memory would be nice. With the 76CSX you can have as much storage as will fit on a micro SD card. I have a 1GB one and have downloaded detailed information on almost all of the east coast and neighboring states. The addition of a color screen is a plus, so the navaids are now red and green instead of just marked that way. And a big improvement is the auto-routing option, where you just type in your start and end points and it'll automatically take you there step-by-step like most websites. Get too far off course and it will do it again to take you from where you are to where you want it to be. One feature I really like is that the screen colors change automatically when the sun goes down, so a bright screen format during the day and a dark screen format automatically at night. very cool. Plus it's still floating! I love this new GPS and its portability, large storage capacity, preloaded navigation aids and automatic routing capabilities make it a must-have for anyone who likes to do a lot of things and where a dash-mounted device just won't do the job.
