Didn't quite buy it well, had a little trouble using it.

Garmin is a good company in many ways, I have been using their products for a long time. But the "crooked" back cover, 95% similar to the cover from Montana, instead of the original design, suggests that the company produces the navigator according to the residual principle. The lid does not fit with the dimensions in the case, the edges clumsily protrude beyond its limits, the gaps hurt the eye . Then I looked at another navigator in the store - the same picture. In my old Montana, for…

Pros
  • - Screen! He is awesome! Bright, clear, big. In the old 276 series, he was already not small, but this one conquered immediately. - The legendary, time-tested 276th series. - Familiar (for connoisseurs) menu with deep customization options. - Capacious battery. - The case is made of dense and apparently very strong plastic with protection against water penetration. True, any scratch on it will be immediately visible. Well . probably that's all .))
Cons
  • Forgive me the manufacturer and office. distributor.)) The general "brakes" of the device when working with topo maps supplied with Navikom reduces enthusiastic impressions to NO. Even with minimally comfortable detail settings, drawing and ating the map on the screen when moving the cursor or changing the scale leaves much to be desired, from my point of view. Perhaps a weak CPU is used at the performance level of 5-7 years ago to save production costs, insufficient RAM, "raw" firmware of the device, or poor optimization of hardware, firmware and our 2022 topographic maps. Let someone explain to me why this navigator "slows down", I'm a Chinese smartphone from a well-known manufacturer with an equally pleasing screen, high-quality assembly, costing only $ 150 (and even cheaper on AliEx), in general, it works smartly, keeps the battery charge perfectly and carries a decently optimized axis on the bot, not to mention the top models of smartphones from other well-known manufacturers, comparable in cost to this navigator.

The best resource-class GPS navigator ever made by Garmin.

I've used this GPS model for over 10 years while working in the 20-million-acre Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. Single point locate accuracy is less than 20 feet. But on average it offers better accuracy. Rain, sun, snow, temperatures from 95F to -40F have never been a problem. It has been out of production for a number of years but I have successfully found a used one in good condition. Happy to receive it.

Very happy with the best GPS, finders and accessories

As a previous owner of Magellan Maridian Marine I had high hopes for the 76Sx. I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed! Easy setup, software installation - everything worked great. The block itself is clear and easy to use. Additional Notes: Customer service is friendly and easily accessible without an hour of menu selection. Clearly English speaking tour guide made it so much easier. (I contacted them prior to purchase for more info and card information). Also of note is the fact that when…

Excellent mid-level GPS.

This is my fourth GPS purchase and I am very happy with this unit. It's not as small as the Etrex range, but the color screen is bright and easy to read for my "not-so-young" eyes. It lacks some of the high-end reception that my GPSMAP 276C has, but it's a lot less bulky and seems to track satellites better with the new SiRF GPS chip. I use handheld GPS primarily for kite flying, logging my flights, and arranging pickups when traveling cross-country and landing along the road. It's easy to…

Garmin GPSMap 76Csx

I like the 76CSx. Arrived quickly, exactly on the day it was supposed to arrive. I have been using a Garmin 72 and switching to the 76CSx has been a joy. I argued between Garmin 60CSx and 76CSx and finally settled on the 76 because the buttons are the same and I thought it would be easy to adapt to them. The only benefit I saw with the 60's was the smaller size. I also ordered the "City Navigator" CD, which didn't load for me. After I downloaded it, it was perfect. I bought a 1GB microcard and…

I'm impressed: GPS, finder and accessories

I was sailing Canada's west coast (Vancouver - Gulf Islands, Sunshine Coast) and bought a Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx plus bluechart for the area. Bought over the screen size and level of detail of the maps, but after getting used to it for a bit I was really VERY impressed. Used to large paper charts (expensive), this is a lot. You can glide ahead of a rough course and have a nice 'close-up view') and can easily zoom out to the smallest detail and feel confident where you are to within a few feet…

Everything a boat enthusiast and frequent traveler needs

This is the third Garmin GPSMAP 76 product that I have owned. I started a few years ago with a GPS Map 76 with 8MB RAM. I found having a GPS to be very handy but also a lot of fun. You'll never get lost, and with lots of details like places of interest, you can easily find things like a specific restaurant or hotel in a city you've never been to. As a recreational boater, this GPS navigator comes with preloaded navigational aids, making it easy to get from point to point on a large river. Also,

New generation.

Don't let this dissuade you from using this device for marine use, consider it for on-road and recreational use on land. In fact, this device's water resistance and buoyancy amplify its already impressive performance for hikers, cyclists and car enthusiasts. It uses all kinds of MapSource software and offers the possibility of using street, topographic and nautical maps. Removable storage allows users to expand storage capacity or create memory cards preloaded with select decks of cards. I…

Cadillac of portable sat navs

There are times when "pretty good" just won't do. Buying a GPS device was one of those occasions for me. I need a portable GPS navigator that is best in class. My research led me to the GPSMap 76CSx. Factors that led to the decision: Honestly, the reviews are here; Garmin's reputation; powerful satellite binding; a large selection of base and add-on cards; expandable memory via microSD card; altimeter; Compass; battery life; transreflective LCD screen. The importance of the transreflective…

Garmin GPSmap 76CSx, great GPS!

UPDATE June 30, 2010 - This GPS is still great! Awaiting update until 2010. UPDATE: September 4, 2008 - Still very impressed with the 76CSx. This has proven to be very practical when buying a house in recent times. All my previously expressed opinions are still relevant. One very handy feature that the device doesn't have, and I wish it had, is the ability to choose an alternate route while driving. This can be useful when there is a detour or when you want to calculate a route around traffic…
