Continuing my search for the perfect marking tool

Continuing my search for the perfect drawing tool I bought one of these and gave it an honest test. I got the plastic version, thought it was overpriced before I bought it, but it's a quest. The tool is really well thought out and solves many of the problems I faced with my homemade versions. Specifically the use of a magnet to hold the blade. Here my criticism. Step 1/16 vs infinite customization. The movement of the blade in the tool. (Could be better in metal versions but I might not cry) Blade bending due to the large protrusion. Modified Exacto blades are used. (yes, I know why). Maximum depth Β½ inch. So one of my tests for "perfection" is to mark from both directions and measure deviations. My tests ranged from near perfect on MDF to 1/16"+ on hard stock. A good tool, more accurate than a pencil but not perfect. Tip: Attach masking tape before painting. Greatly improves the ability to see the line. At least in my poor eyes.
