Gloves are much better than a towel in a hot oven! They protect your hands and rise above your wrists. The thickness of the gloves makes it difficult to grip small pans and trays, but it's not impossible. I recommend using both gloves when removing pots and pans from the oven. With just one hand - if your grip isn't perfect - you can drop a hot object on yourself or on the floor. When the temperature is very high - 400 degrees Fahrenheit and above - you can feel the heat seeping through the gloves. I cannot hold a hot object for more than 10 seconds until my hands are very hot. I would not recommend using these gloves on a hot outdoor grill as they do not protect your hands. Other gloves are made for this - use them.
