I bought this guide primarily to hide some of the cables that run down a fairly narrow hallway (it was dangerous to trip without them and I didn't want to climb through the ceiling with me beating around the running cable ). The runner arrived rolled and wrapped in plastic in a tall, narrow box. Upon unpacking, I noticed a slight (chemical) smell of new carpet, but this went away within a day or so. The rug looks great and is the perfect size. Nice that it comes in so many different sizes! It also goes really well with my other modern rug in the living room. However, the carpet is quite thin. As mentioned I bought it to hide some of the electrical cords I ran underneath and you can definitely tell if you stand on any of the cords. But still it looks much better and is no longer a tripping hazard. The mat has a rubber bottom that prevents it from moving too much. While it holds up well overall, I've noticed that it shifts a bit from time to time, but it's easy to replace. I have a Roomba robot vacuum that I use to mop floors sometimes and I've had no problems with this carpet either. All in all: If you are looking for a nice carpet at a good price, you will have a hard time. find better!
