Review on Permatex 84102 High Temperature Epoxy - 500°F by Justin Kedzior

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Very short run time and water destroyed

I was happy to find a high temp epoxy to glue some of the stones to my fire. It worked once I figured out the business hours. The package says 10 minutes. It is not true. At 65 degrees it sets in 2-3 minutes. All you have time is to mix it up quickly and apply it right away. Also keep in mind that whatever is left in the mixing bowl will get very hot. I think they added too much hardener. It seems to work well if you're quick enough, but I haven't had a chance to make sure it can handle the heat yet. UPDATE - after gluing the stone twice and thinking I did something wrong, I figured out the problem. It will fall apart when it gets wet. Even morning dew was enough for the epoxy to completely crumble into flakes. How can you believe in epoxy that cannot stand water? This makes it useless for me to use in my fire pit.

Pros
  • delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled
