Need more info

No user manual at all. It must be used to connect the thread. I'm getting the basics by looking at it but haven't been able to get it perfect yet. I've practiced several times, but nothing tells me if I'm doing it right. Next thing I found are a couple of YouTube videos for the Etsy version, which didn't seem to get this either.
