Beautiful and fantastic value

These are fantastic, I'm very impressed and surprised that they cost so little. PSA for those that have not used Chinese calligraphy brushes before: Let the brushes sit in warm water prior to your first use, there is glue holding the brush hairs together to protect it during transport. When all the hairs are free and you cannot feel hardness within the brush head, rinse again to get all the dissolved glue out. The brush is now ready to use. If you are using ink, fully load the brush, then remove excess against your ink dish. After this, you do not need to load the entire brush. Make sure to choose an appropriate brush size such that your thickest stroke only uses a third of the brush's length, any more than that may be potentially damaging. When you are finished and have cleaned your brush, let it dry by laying it out or hanging it by the little string at the top (this is preferable, but not all of us have brush hangers) Do not put the cap back on! Now that there is no glue to keep the brush hairs together, it will damage the brush!

Pros
  • Very big brush, but good.
Cons
  • The hair may shed or split, causing an uneven stroke and ruining the work
