Review on πŸ› οΈ E-Z LOK 9200 Hex Drive Insert Drive Tool - Optional - Compatible with Internal Thread Size 3/8-16 by Carl Morgan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great, but there are cheaper alternatives.

I bought this tool along with some threaded zinc inserts for removable bottom panels on the small boxes I assemble. It is excellent for installing threaded inserts when used in a hand drive, but note that there is no ball retainer for use in the small subcompact drivers popular today (although a ball retainer is shown in the product image). So for a manual screwdriver it works fine, but for a speedster with a hex chuck it just expands. The bit also works great in traditional pin drills. However, after playing around on the internet, you can find 4mm ball lock hex bits that will work in any situation. McMaster Carr has plenty of these; I used 2" Ball Detents (mcmaster #7397A44). Time will tell if they last as long as the EZ LOK bits, but for about 1/4 the price I can't complain. A benefit of the EZ LOK The bit differs from the standard bit in that it has a wide shoulder, when this part touches the wood the bit is at the ideal depth, just below the surface of the wood, but since standard bits are much cheaper they are very easy to snap install by eye so the bit works as advertised but down 1 star for value.
