Attention perfectionists!

First off, the film itself isn't bad - it's quite reflective and is just what I needed to add some privacy to my front door. The problem is that you cannot install it perfectly. I should clarify a bit here - you can't perfectly install it on the windows I have. If you have plastic trim around your window that you can easily pull out, you're worth your weight in gold (except anyone can easily pull your window out from the outside). However, my windows have wood paneling around them and are plastered with window putty. Of course, this putty leaves imperfections that cannot be completely removed. I cut them out with a razor blade before attaching the foil and while that improved the situation, they were far from perfect. So you have two options - (1) attach the laser cutter to the window and cut the film perfectly around the putty, or (2) lay it over the putty and leave it as is. After some discussion, I decided not to bring the cavalry and install them on the putty. Aside from not looking perfect, it doesn't stick to the edges either and I'm not sure how long it will last before falling off. Another problem with this film is that it has to be installed outdoors. Well, yes, it is in the description, so I understood all the consequences very well - dust easily gets under it before you level and glue it. Luckily, I'm an experienced installer of smartphone screen protectors and had a few sticky dust-off tapes left so I could remove most of them when I noticed them, but there were still a few here and there around the edges. I would love to see someone install it with absolutely no particles between the film and the window. Even if you have plastic trim around the window and can achieve perfect edges, you're still not immune to this problem. Before commenting on your "ideal" setup, let's be clear - you don't see them and they don't exist, those are two different things. See, harvesting an OLED is a walk in the park when you can mount it to an outdoor 2x6 foot window with no particles underneath. Finally, one of the comments mentions that using a larger squeegee helps (e.g. OXO Good Grips). wouldn't say it particularly helps or makes it worse. My OXO Good Grips has a rubber blade so it pulled on the foil while trying to squeeze out the soapy water making it harder for me. If there is a hard plastic bladed version, then it must be in no way different from the one that comes with the film itself (just more). As for the plastic squeegee - I actually scratched the film because the squeegee wasn't perfectly shaped and was rough, so be careful and check your blade before letting it touch the precious film. I'll see how this setup holds up and maybe eventually get rid of it and just put in factory tinted windows like Solarcool or something.
