Great ball head that pushes all the right buttons.

I have several ball heads, mostly from tripods I've bought, and I was looking for something a little better quality and with more capacity, but not huge. It is excellent! First off, it's solidly built, and when locked, it will withstand anything I can throw at it. But it also moves very smoothly. When fully unlocked, the ball is free to move. If you want to add some traction to the movement, there's a button that will increase traction while maintaining a smooth ride. So if you don't want your camera to fall off when you unlock it, the bullet tension button works really well. It also has two panorama plates. One is in the usual place below and has a locking handle. The other is on top above the ball and also has a locking handle. One of the other reviewers complained that they didn't need a top cymbal, but for me this is a no-cost upgrade! If you don't want to spend a lot of time fine-tuning a tripod for a panoramic shot, you can use the ball head to set the right angle and pan with the top swivel plate. Of course, if you need to tilt the camera up or down but still want to pan horizontally at ground level, you can use a regular pan plate. The best from both worlds! This is a high quality product, well made and well thought out. I highly recommend it!
