Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Efficiently Tackle Your Home Mechanic Needs with Park Tool PW-5 Pedal Wrench by Marquel Rubio

You don't need a PW-3 or PW-4, that's fine. Tips for a successful pedal removal!

Works great. Previously I tried removing the pedals with a regular wrench and it didn't move. I was worried I wouldn't have enough leverage with this homemade power tool, but it worked, and now I'm glad I have a smaller tool to carry in my checked luggage so I can get my bike back together . at the airport. PEDAL REMOVAL TIPS: The tool lever wasn't the biggest problem with removing the pedals, it's difficult to secure the pedals in the first place. I found that the best way is to find a curb (or something like a concrete staircase). Place your bike with the opposite pedal (or just the shaft if the other pedal is already removed) on the concrete. If you want to protect from scratches, put a rag or something similar on top. Then get on your bike or ask a friend to do so. Put on the wrench, place your foot on the pedal you want to remove, and pull it toward the back of the bike, placing your entire weight on the bike and pedal. I was able to do it myself while sitting on a 150lb bike. As soon as you make the first movement, you can easily detach the pedal. Haven't tried using the pedals yet but will try something like this in reverse and report back.
