All my USB ports on the motherboard worked on USB 1 and I couldn't get 2 to work like 2. I bought a 2.0 card and after installing everything my motherboard ports stopped working. The card I bought had 5 ports and I have 7 devices so I needed a hub. I bought this Alurtek 7 port hub from Fry, unfortunately I paid $8 more than the Amazon price. aluratek works great with devices that require USB 2.0 (scanners, printers, camcorders) and devices that do not require 2.0 such as keyboards and trackball mice. I've tried dlink hubs before and didn't like them nearly as much as this Aluratek (the reason I bought it from Pommes was so I could look at the documentation and maybe avoid the problems I was having with dlink ). I also recommend you check out the Tripp Lite u222-007-r hub which looks just like my aluratek. Another reviewer said the two ports on the front are upside down - I only use three of the four on the back of the hub, but I doubt the upside down will bother me - I'll probably use one of the front ports for use my mobile phone charging/file transfer . much luck!
