UPDATE: I ordered a replacement and had the same issues. This is an inferior replacement for the famous NightLock brand barricade. It would probably do the job, but the $15 price difference doesn't make up for the poor quality. The ending is weak and illogical. If you look at my photos, they are very thin around the edges and have a matte finish. This is likely an application error, but may indicate a rework of the metal. I also posted an image showing sharp edges and tool marks; That's not a big problem for a side door that's never used, but it's a big problem for a piece of metal that's handled on a daily basis. The included screws are rubbish and there is no product manual. Most people can figure out how to set up a barricade, but a salesman shouldn't take it for granted.
