Review on High-Performance Gates TCK282 PowerGrip Premium Timing Belt Component Kit: Engine Efficiency and Durability by Zachary Benjamin

I have trusted Gates belts for many years but not anymore. After 10,000 kilometers my timing belt broke for some reason. The belt was properly tensioned with a gauge according to factory specifications and both idler pulleys were replaced at the same time (along with the water pump, which is not relevant here). The Gates guarantee only applies if the belt is installed at a workshop and they refuse to cover all other costs (even towing). Luckily the engine wasn't damaged when the belt broke, otherwise it was just a major headache. But suffice it to say that from now on I will only use original belts. A total disappointment in what I thought was a stand up company.
