Review on Rainy Day Bernat POP! - 5Oz Medium Gauge 100% Acrylic Yarn by Steven Adams

Not great, but a reasonable value yarn for the price.

I was given several balls of this yarn in various colors, so I decided to mix them up & make a couple of knitted blankets. Of course, I didn’t have enough of the yarn, so I purchased several more on ebay to make a good size blanket. On this order, I purchased Hot Chocolate and Birch Bark & Blue colors.I was surprised when the balls came in the same color combinations, but not necessarily in the same orders or proportions. It didn’t change how I used them, just wasn’t what I expected.I find that the yarn is uneven thicknesses, sometimes getting a bit heavier, and less often going down to nearly a fingerling weight. Also, there is at least one knot in each ball between colors, and sometimes two. Finally, in almost each color, there are imperfections, or bleeding of the other colors into the one (ex - the white stretches of yarn will have a few spots of dark brown).I don’t love this yarn, but it is fairly inexpensive, and it comes in a great variety of color combinations, so overall I would say it’s a reasonable value if you manage your expectations accordingly.

Pros
  • The array of colors available in this line of yarn means that you can easily find the perfect shade to match your unique style
Cons
  • It may not be as suitable for oversized projects
