I bought this spring to replace a broken one on my Delta 17-956 based on measurements only. This spring, Delta and other retailers are trading at $35, but they were out of stock. Spring came in five days. In the resulting form, the spring is tightly coiled and held in place by a wire around the perimeter. Before removing the old spring, note the orientation of the spring in the housing. I was concerned that the tightly coiled spring would twist a lot when cutting the clamp wire, so I added a smaller wire (radial) around the tightly coiled spring and twisted it. firmly to secure it. Another wire was added around the spring at 180 degrees (3 and 9 o'clock I think) and twisted tightly. With the outer spring tongue in the housing I clamped a narrow piece of wood over the housing to prevent the spring from breaking out. Wearing goggles, I cut the wire on the outside of the spring and removed it. The two small wires I added were then cut and removed. Gather them on a drill press. Put on leather gloves while pulling the quill or pay the pavement tax. The spring shaft has sharp edges. DAMHIK This spring fits and performs like a genuine Delta part.
