It paid for itself in convenience in the first week.

Super easy to use and still works great. I had a project to dub about 35 home video DVDs for two other family members. This would literally take weeks with my Panasonic DVR/DVD recorder as I would have to play them in real time while burning to disk and then edit again to split and rename the titles before burning the DVD. This happened about three nights while I was watching TV. Insert the source at the top, insert the blank at the bottom, then move away until the beep sounds and the lower compartment opens. Insert another disc to record another disc, or remove the source to record to another disc. It rips a 2-hour DVD in under 10 minutes and creates a perfect digital copy of the original, including the title menu and chapter markers. My ONLY problem is that I had to interrupt my TV show every 10 minutes to jump out of my chair and start the next dubbing. For $135 to copy 35 years of home video to 70 new DVDs, it costs less than 50 cents. for a duplicate. I believe that this is a good result for the first week of use and in the future the use will be flawless. Disclaimer - I have only copied DVD-R originals to blank DVD-R discs so far. I have not used DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, CD-R or CD-RW discs, although the device says it will duplicate them. If I get a chance to use something else I'll report my results. At the moment I am perfectly happy. Plugged it in, took 12 seconds to learn how to use it, and completed a big project with ease. UPDATE: After a few months of use, I discovered another very handy feature. I initially assumed that the target medium should be identical to the source. It's not like this! As long as there is capacity on the destination, it will be copied. Depending on how they are used and on which machines, I sometimes use -R as a target and sometimes +R. The copier copies from everyone to everyone and copies from one format to another. I successfully copied from DVD-R DL to DVD+R DL and vice versa. Most conveniently, it copies from DVD-RW or DVD+RW to DVD-R or DVD+R. This means I can create my master disk on a rewritable disk. Sometimes I need multiple edits to get exactly what I want, with appropriate breakpoints between scenes. Or sometimes I don't see the thumbnails I set up when I view them after finalizing the disc. Now I can create a -RW or +RW master and rebuild it when needed without wasting disks. Once the RW is perfect and complete, the duplicator copies it perfectly to either -R or +R, regardless of the type of source -RW or +RW. Great flexibility and reduces the number of coffee table stands. The more I use it, the more I like it.
