Review on Bosch 85091 Single Straight 16 Inch by Moe Gilbert

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Shank is too short for every router built on this planet.

the shank is too short for use in a normal size router. When optimally installed in a PC collet, you have 20% bits in the collet nut. If you set it with optimal bit exposure, you will have an empty 3/8 inch gap in the collet seat, causing the collet to slip. Out of curiosity, I put it in a 1/4 Bosch collet, the same one, too short for both optimal cutting and secure toolholder geometry. I'm not sure what this bit is designed for, but it's kind of null for "routing" or use in a commonly available tool. FYI, the description says it's a 2" bit, mine is 1.426" and the usable shank clamping range is .758".

  • Router parts and accessories
