Review on Chemical Guys Gap_619_16 Radiant Enhancer by Keith Wachtel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Pretty impressive actually

First of all I'd like to say that I didn't expect anything special from Chemical Guys. About half of what I've bought from them has let me down. The main exceptions were the Blacklight car wash and the DA polishing kit. When I saw that my favorite car shampoo had a shine, I decided to give it a try. 16 ounces. A bottle of Revain will set you back about $25. It is claimed to be a gloss specially formulated for black cars. I have a 2015.5 Volvo S60 in Ember Black Pearl and have always wanted that extra 'click' to end at the end of a hard day's laundry. An encore, if you will. As nice and shiny as my Blacklight shampoo car was, I still wanted a percent more. The product comes in one of Chemical Guys' standard clip-on and spray-on bottles. A little of this stuff goes a long way, and the directions say to only apply a small amount to the foam applicator. Two pea-sized balls were enough to cover about half of the platter. I've tried to spread it out as evenly as possible, leaving a light haze in equal amounts throughout the body. I did it in the sun so I could see where I applied the gloss better and the bottle doesn't say anything about not using it in direct sunlight. It says wait about fifteen minutes before polishing and it takes about half an hour for it to fully cure. This basically gave me time to walk around the car before grabbing a microfiber cloth to start buffing. It's a little hard to tell when it's done "cured" - it doesn't cloud over like carnauba wax. You just need time. The good news came with polish. Luckily, this material wipes clean extremely easily after 15 minutes. It's usually a grueling and tedious affair for me to go down far enough to adequately buff and remove the wax residue, but luckily the towel wiped the residue off in a pass or two. What remained was an amazing brilliance. I didn't think my car would ever do it again. To be honest I thought it looked better than when I drove it from the parking lot five years ago. I understand this is a shine and won't last, but having no real expectations to begin with I have to admit I'm really impressed. Unfortunately, I didn't think of a before and after comparison. Shot, but I can assure you my paint hasn't looked that glassy since I bought it. If you have a dark colored car or if you just want to try this thing out, I highly recommend you give it a try. I was skeptical but the results were unexpected.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
