Review on Spectra Premium FN664 Fuel Filler by Brian Vasquez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Doesn't quite match fuel tanks and accessories

When I buy parts I look up the part number for my car on various sites to make sure I'm buying the right part. It was a part number that could be found in several places so I ordered. After removing the old filler neck and comparing the two parts, I noticed that this part has two breather tubes that are welded to the bracket. The OEM has a separate mount for these tubes. This is of great importance as the breather tubes need to be routed through the frame to connect to the rubber hoses coming from the tank. If you get a part like mine you will need to cut the bracket to remove those vent tubes. Which raises another problem. The bracket to cut is the bracket into which you need to insert one of the mounting screws. The next problem was that the large fuel hose is about 1/2 inch longer than the OEM. a tight squeeze from the tank inlet hose to the tank opening in the fender. During assembly, it seemed easier to me to put on the top first, then process the rubber hose coming from the tank. In general, the part works , but with some modifications. Also, some reported not having a valve. That they had to buy it separately. Mine came with a valve and fresh rubber hoses. It's not an easy task. I gave this a 4 star rating due to an installation issue, but it's a good replacement for an OEM part for my 2001 Forester S.
