I use this bit for installing maple wood floors. For boards that need to be ribbed (cut lengthways), I use this tool to cut the tongue and groove. Then I can easily use both parts of the cut board instead of throwing away half the board. Reduces scrap when you have a lot of flooring to lay. I know a slotted router would work just as well, but a bearing on top of the router makes it a little more versatile for what I'm doing.
