They are significantly thicker than the skewers I have used in the past (the top skewer in the photos is this item and the bottom one is the one I have purchased in the past) and I was a little worried they broke some of the veg when I tried to put it on a stick. However, I tried them today and they really work better than the thin ones! They are durable and much easier to work with. I've tried peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, onions, eggplant, garlic cloves, and cherry tomatoes, as well as chicken and feta chicken sausage. I only had to be careful with the mushrooms, but if you stick them in the right place, they don't fall apart either. They are smooth, durable and food slides easily over them. I bought a 10 inch so I can fit more veggies on each stick. I soaked them in warm water before stuffing them with veggies and chicken chunks and roasted in the oven at 400F. The only ones slightly charred at the ends were near the furnace walls, the rest didn't burn at all. I would buy again.
