Wow! Worth every penny! Bought because my wife was picking hazelnuts from local farms in Oregon. I've tried several nutcrackers and all had annoying flaws: they crushed the kernels, they lacked leverage, they had sharp edges that caused blisters. This Drosselmeyer works like clockwork. It's surprisingly durable, fits perfectly in your hand and is easy to squeeze. I shared a whole bucket of hazelnuts over two nights while watching TV. It's so fast - you need a helper. One person splits and spills mussels and meat on the table, while another picks cores from the mixture. Otherwise you crack 20-25 nuts and then choose the meat yourself. A piece of advice: DO NOT DRY NUTS before cracking them. We dried a bucket in a dehydrator for 4-5 days, and then the kernels were too brittle and broke in half the nuts. Wash hazelnuts and dry overnight. Start to crack and the kernels will still be soft and whole. Then dry the kernels separately.
