Review on Garmin Fēnix HR Gray Renewed by Pavel Craig

Garmin is moving in the right direction, but it's just UNRELIABLE

I tend to prefer Casio watches, especially solar watches, but they don't have exactly the model that suits my current needs, so i tried this Garmin. Some of the features/apps are great and the watch face I uploaded looks great in bright sunlight. The battery life is very good, even when using GPS. But a few problems keep popping up. First, the altimeter needs to be adjusted constantly, such as daily and maybe even hourly. It's totally unreliable. Second, the bezel had to protrude above the glass to provide extra protection from unexpected impacts from a flat surface. Thirdly, the barometer should send out a "storm warning" according to specified criteria. It seems to fire at random times on sunny days and quiet moments and I prefer to get my heart rate up in other ways, thanks. In general, three stars are enough for the money invested. UPDATE: The altimeter now randomly changes readings every few seconds, and the barometer follows suit. Beyond unreliable, just annoying now given my favorite watch face and the ubiquitous "Storm Alerts" that won't turn off. The step count is now 25% lower than my Fitbit and the flights (stairs) are 50% lower. In addition, the battery life has decreased significantly in the last two months. (Software inventory updated?) Now the altimeter and barometer widgets that weren't working have also been removed. Started looking elsewhere for a new watch. Too bad.

Cons
