Review on Universal Carrier Kayaks Surfboard Rooftop by Matt Louis

Ordered this at the last minute for my 2019 Subaru Outback to assemble a Malibu Ocean 2 seater kayak. The first problem in the delivery condition is that the brackets for attaching the trunk to the Subaru cross members do not fit (see photo). The second problem is that the assembly drawing incorrectly shows the wrong position of the self-locking nuts. The third issue is that it's too easy to scratch the roof with the bottom bracket and long screws trying to attach the bracket to the cross member (see image). The fourth problem is the bracket design itself. While it sits snugly on the cross member, the bottom bracket is only held in place by two hand-tight and unlockable nuts. They will and will vibrate when the kayak is being driven at highway speeds. Unfortunately, I was pressed for time when buying it and tried to get it working anyway. Big mistake. I will gobble up the $60 I spent on this poorly designed piece of stamped metal. I do not recommend this rack even though the brackets fit Subaru's cross members.
