I have a golf cart with six 48 volt 8 volt batteries. The previous owner installed the headlights and hooked up the first two batteries, 16 volts, to the 12 volt headlights instead of installing a buck. After burning 4 batteries I found this "workaround" which resulted in uneven battery drain and overcharge. This resulted in the first two batteries failing within a year, two years in a row. I installed this step down converter to drop 48 volts down to 12 volts which resulted in the battery being drained evenly. Now all my batteries are tested right after the first year, which will save me a lot of money as I don't have to change batteries every year. Bought back in a season.
