We purchased this product with a Chamberlain myQ garage door hub which required access to a power source if installed in close proximity to the garage door opener. There wasn't a vacant outlet because the garage door was connected to one half of the box and the other half was occupied by another device, along with some of the space around the ground screw (which interfered with some of the other options we could use to connect ). from the outlet to which the garage door opener was plugged). We chose this product because the plug on the wall was no larger than the plug on our garage door opener. The length was long enough to give us room for creative cable routing (see image) but short enough not to add bulk.
