Does +75% of its purpose (cooking). -25% (no whistle). Bought as a Christmas present for my mum who lives far away and I was saddened by her disappointment at Christmas. She let me know it would be great if he whistle. I can't even handle this thing. (Sad face) Update: I got the teapot from my mum so I could return it and decided to test it myself. Low, and lo and behold, it actually works great
