Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Genuine Honda 17670-T3W-A01 Fuel Filler Cap: Reliable and High-Quality Fuel Filling Solution by Justin Castro

Works very well with carburetors and parts

I have a 2006 Honda Civic and I have the fuel cap light on all the time. I read a few reviews and did a little research on the problem and found a video of flipping the rubber seal on the gas cap (so the side that was against the cap is now against the fuel filler neck). It worked for her but not for me. It was easy enough to try what I did. I considered buying a new gas cap but thought it best to take it to the dealer to make sure there was no problem with the evaporator system. I called the dealer to set up an appointment, they told me it would cost $150 to diagnose the problem and suggested they try to replace the gas cap. Since the car was 12 years old I figured the car was worth a new gas cap. And if it didn't work, something more serious must have happened that should have been taken to the dealer. Long story short, a new gas cap solved the problem for me. It took a day or two to recalibrate the system. So be aware that it may take a day or two for the message to go away. Remove the old delimiter strap from the old gas cap (similarly remove the delimiter strap from the new gas cap) and then simply place the existing (old) delimiter strap onto the new cap. I first removed the ring/plug from the old gas cap (I have a new cap and strap just in case I break something). I removed this by prying the ring off with a pair of small flat head screwdrivers and prying it off the underside of the gas cap. It was a little harder than I thought. And I also found it difficult to put the ring/band upside down on the new gas cap. I ended up putting the ring/strap on the new gas cap over the "TOP" of the new gas cap and it was a lot easier. Your mileage may vary.
