If you are ordering this then be aware.

When ordering, remember the old adage "measure twice, cut once”. Measure the size of your old mortise lock before purchasing. My house is from the 1920's with the original doors. The front door's internal mortise lock mechanism is much larger than the newer versions. However, this size is great for other mortise lock doors in my house. At the moment I have bought and installed 5 of these locks. There are some variations on the buttons, although I can't tell how many. Each package has a small sticker showing which key number goes with it. The numbers go up to at least 12. Only two of my locks had the same key. Here are the tools I needed to replace my vintage mortise locks with these: a 1/4-inch mortise chisel, a hammer, a #2 Phillips screwdriver, and a flathead screwdriver. The reason for this is that while the lock body fits the old mortise lock, the bezels on this one were slightly longer than the old one. Also, the holes in the door frame now lined up with this product latch, so I had to gouge out the wood in a few spots to get it flush properly.
