I always put a K&N air filter in my cars when I change my first filter. At least I'll never have to buy a filter again, so it pays off if you're planning on keeping the car for a couple of years. Never notice power gains, they're minimal, less than 5hp, but you can expect the fuel economy from better airflow. Also, this Mazda 3 has a distinctive growl that makes it sound a bit sportier when driving. I always recommend buying this, it's an easy replacement, it just needs cleaning about every 40,000 miles and you're good to go.
