We have clay soil in our yard and digging with a shovel can be quite a chore. I bought this pair of augers to help stake our trees and also to do some other replanting and breaking up the ground to fix it. These things worked REALLY great for digging and breaking up soil. I was very happy for a moment. But I soon found that the auger was deformed, although it seemed to be able to take the soil loosening and burial. This was with the larger of the two snails. So I tried it with a smaller drill. Again it seemed to do fine work for a short time, but that day both drills twisted with their shafts and the smaller shaft broke. Who is going to design something that obviously stands up to hard ground and not use heavier gauge metal that doesn't warp or bend as much? I'm sorry but in general the hardened metal drill bit should be GOOD QUALITY. It's like drilling in wood with a regular drill bit, and on the first day of use, the bit deforms and breaks. You didn't expect the drill to be good then, did you? The same applies here. Great idea but very poor quality. Only gave it 2 stars vs 1 because it worked well before it failed.
