I really liked that this mount is flush where the installation didn't have to cut a niche in the door. There are many more "handles" to open the door. We had to install it right on the edge of the thick part of our door (photo #1) so you can still reach it when the door is closed (photo #2). Our only issue (and it really has nothing to do with the product) is that our barn door comes with DesignGlide soft-close hardware, so it takes some force to open the door.
