HARDWARE ERROR in 3 days!

Received my device 4 days ago and was able to connect an HDMI monitor (1080p), two external USB hard drives (2 TB each) and a mouse. My new HP Specter (2017 model) x360, 15.6" AC adapter plugged into the power connector on this CableCreation and the white USB-C cable from it to my laptop's Thunderbolt 3 port. The device worked fine for 3 days, all hard drives spinning properly and transferring data. However, last night there seemed to be a power outage in this device, and now it can only support one USB drive at a time. Not enough power as indicated by its blinking light, no drive letters on the PC , and even intermittent connect-disconnect signals from the laptop to three USB 3.0 ports (including BC 1.2), now doesn't work! Device got quite hot on the outside when both drives were working Basic overcurrent protection inside the device that caused a component to explode. The device's ports and cables are excellently positioned (compared to some competitor adapters), ensuring tidy cable management and easily accessible ports. However, I can't even give a star for the layout if the device shows a hardware error after 3 days. I'll keep trying today, and then I'll be forced to return to Revane.
