Made my own mifi hotspot version using this and TPLink's small portable WAP. The beauty of the combo compared to something like a Netgear Jetpack or similar battery-powered product is that the lack of a battery means it can run for months without user intervention. Simply insert the Jetpack SIM card, plug it into the PC first to make sure it's working and connected, then plug it into the MiniWAP and login to make sure it's working USB tethering recognized and working. In terms of reception, it worked much better than the jetpack.
