A special program is required for installation and operation. The device does not come with a disc to install the specified program. This alone takes away a lot of the purpose of this device as you need the internet to download a program to operate this device so you have the internet. Made my own mifi hotspot version using this and TPLink's small portable WAP. The beauty of the combo compared to something like a Netgear Jetpack or similar battery-powered product is that the lack of a battery means it can run for months without user intervention.
