
I am writing this review after making my first four ice cream scoops. I have to admit I was thrilled when the very first ball showed up to share a glass with Balvenie Double Wood (photo attached). The ice ball is large and melts much slower than regular cubes, allowing you to get chilled without quickly diluting your favorite drink. The creation process is simple, but will require some practice depending on how "perfect" you want your ice cream balls to be. The two halves must be dry and tight so that no thin ridge of ice forms around the hemisphere. I also learned how to slightly underfill the spheres to prevent ice expansion from the hole above. As the instructions suggest, I let the shapes sit for a bit before removing them to avoid cracking. Overall I am very satisfied with this product. With a little practice, I'll soon be wowing and wowing my guests with smooth, round, perfect ice cream treats!
