I live in the northern Great Plains where the summers are hot as hell and the winters are some of the coldest on earth, and this auto mounting plate has lasted three full years! I've tried two other brands before (both used 3M adhesive, the first was semi-permanent, the second was easy to permanently remove) and neither lasted more than a few seconds when mounted vertically in my car on a textured plastic surface. Although this one really worked! I am very satisfied and although it eventually broke after three years, I am more than worth my money and am buying another one now. Don't trust the competition, they only work in the best conditions, this one works in hot and cold places on rough surfaces even when mounted vertically. It's also important to note that when it finally collapsed, there was no dirt or glue on it. left on the surface of my car it stuck to the glass so no cleaning was done. Just remember to clean the area first before applying it and wait a day or two for the glue to dry before attaching anything to it.
