Review on Delta Cycle Hitch Locking Mount by James Pfettscher

Holds my bike securely in the back of my truck

I used a bike rack that attaches to my truck's receiver to transport my bike. It was loose and I felt like the bike would be vulnerable if someone hit me from behind. When I got this bracket, I removed the tailgate trim and installed it so it was 13 inches above the truck bed. Now the bike rides safely in the back of a truck, safe. I wouldn't count on a locking mechanism to deter theft as, as another reviewer wrote, the other side of the skewer would be easy to detach. Another problem with the tailgate mount is that you can't load the 4x8 piece of wood. However, due to the height and easy access to the bike, I chose this option instead of installing it at the front of the bed. For real security I would use a cable lock between truck and bike and not rely on this mount. I regret nothing. It's a smart solution to easily mount a bike on a truck bed. A nice feature is that it opens wide enough, with an over-mid cam that allows the fork to disengage without messing with the nut. Once set, it stays in place.
