Review on πŸ”ͺ Amana Tool 55430: Precision Diameter Cutting at its Finest by Deshaun Fisher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

As always, quality cutters from Amana!

Do not buy these bits! I have several other Amana cutters and they are high quality. I bought these bits and made 2 fake poplar doors. Stiles was fine, but on the 3rd rail I smelled burnt. I figured they might just need sharpening so I pulled out my diamond thin and extra thin boards and the bits were super sharp but still burning stuff. My router is set to the lowest setting of 10k and I have no idea other than that it must be related to the handling angles? I hate leaving anything negative about a brand whose quality I covet, but I feel I need to do some research on what's going on with the company, or maybe I just have an ass kit? The packaging says Made in Israel. I have other Amana bits that I've kept for years that have never been touched to sharpen and have seen a fair bit of oak! Just to make sure it was the right bit I fitted a cheap Yonico rail bit which has been through a lot of work myself and indeed the bit made a smooth and clean cut in the same material (07-23 update). -14) Forced to change the rating because. After using the sled with these attachments all my problems are gone! Perhaps these bits have such a higher tolerance that for this set it is better to move the tool through the bit a little faster. I didn't use a coping sled, so it moved the material a bit slower than other beats; other Aman bits too, but this set likes a little more speed to avoid burning out. After getting the slide I tried everything from pine to mahogany to oak to see how it worked and the result was the same: the parts were ready to go. The quality I've always gotten from Amana cutters. I hope I haven't put anyone off buying this set. The price of these bits is hard to believe for what you get. Highly recommended.
