Did not live up to expectations. It was purchased for a recently purchased family cabin along the Canadian border in northern Minnesota for summer use by members of our family. Water for purification was taken from a crystal clear lake that had a predictable risk of infection with Giardia and the like. Bought a machine with two filters"black berk". Primed according to instructions. The tag worked fine, the tag slowed down then it barely dripped. Consulted the company (manufacturer customer service) and suggested buying/using their "primer" and also cutting this almost new filter with a potato peeler. I did the primer using a good youtube video on how to hold the pieces together. When I returned to the woods a few weeks later, I completely primed with a new primer, which worked well. Late on day 3 it slowed down again to less than a drop so I primed again with no noticeable benefit. I think the next thing to do is take the black filters apart and rinse, then refill and enjoy for 2 or 3 days before repeating the process. SUMMARY: If you enjoy messing around with something, this might work for you. If you want something for family use for more than a few days you will find this to be a huge disappointment. I have over $300 for this item and currently tend to use one of my field cleaners that I take on a canoe trip.
