I actually have 3 FrostGaurds. My first was 3 years ago, original from the manufacturer's site. There was a Reg/Big mudra with straps. DAS had a few surprises: 1. That it fits in a mailbox. 2. 2-piece end bar/post, whatever it's called. 3. It is about 25-30% larger than the standard large but twice as light. SO: Is this a simple fake? The 2-part lateral plastic bar broke after 2 days outside in the freezing cold during the first storm in use. Because of this, and also because it is so LIGHT [compared to the smaller ORIG version], it constantly reclines and folds down, unduly exposing the wiper hood on our SUV. The door leaf seems to be too high, or something makes the wind pick up [ along with the broken rod. GET ONE WITH BELTS AND BUCKLES. And lie3k, a guy did a review - just buy direct from FrostGuarg; however, keep in mind . I bought another style from FG but it took a week to ship. WHY does a large shield weigh half as much as a smaller one of the same frost shield? IF he gave up the straps I MIGHT consider keeping him and not sending him back. it said. There are a few simple fixes for a CHEAP two piece rod [which I guess they made and designed to save on shipping in such a long box; yes ORIG FG I had SOLID ROD INSERT. As I'm sure others have figured out, budget for the added expense of replacing the cheap, brittle plastic rod with either a good 1/2 inch solid NYLON rod or, if you want to go cheap, a plain wooden rod with a dowel . Anyway, it's going to cost me another $10 for the dowel. The mirror protection is good I think, but mine got water filled a bit after the ice storm and melted/frozen a few later. So be aware. But the fact that it is CHEAP and EASY compared to ORIG from 3 years ago { I mean maybe HALF the thickness of a mil maybe? ] I'll just send it back and reorder directly from FrostGuard and see what product I get if it's still the same cheaper thickness. I'll probably get a refund fee so I'll just give it to my sister or hide it for a rainy day. If I can get a digital scale, maybe I can WEIGH both of the antifreeze plates to prove my point and statements to another unsuspecting buyer. I got this because I had a different and usually brand-loyal assumption about myself and must have tried a different brand.
